PRIMA and PERI Enter into a New Partnership
The Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA) is proud to announce that it has been selected to take over operations of the Public Entity Risk Institute (PERI) beginning June 5, 2013. Under the new arrangement, PRIMA will manage all new PERI programs for public entities and nonprofits and provide staff support to the PERI Board. The two organizations will collaborate to structure programs that support PRIMA’s mission to advance the knowledge and practice of public risk management. Nearly $6 million in new program funding will be available.
“We are pleased to team up with PRIMA to provide additional resources to enhance the education, training and information resources available to public risk managers,” said Debra Darnofall, PERI chair.
Marshall Davies, PRIMA executive director, said, “This collaboration will facilitate the creation and delivery of new services and enable us to invest in innovation, which will add value to PRIMA’s members and benefit the practice of public risk management.”
Under this new operational model, a majority of the seven-member PERI Board will be directors appointed by PRIMA and the remainder will be independent directors. Davies will serve as the PERI executive director, in addition to his role as PRIMA executive director.
Employing a competitive selection process, PERI strove to find a partner organization that could raise awareness and understanding of risk management; provide practical, affordable and easily accessible risk management education and training; and serve as a resource center and information clearinghouse for PERI’s products.
