Dan Hurley, CSP, ARM-P, MS, Sworn In as PRIMA President

June 6, 2012, Nashville, Tenn.— Dan Hurley, CSP, ARM-P, MS, was sworn in today as the 2012-2013 Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA) president at the association’s annual membership luncheon in Nashville, Tenn.

“It’s a pleasure to stand before you. The greatest reward that I have as a member of PRIMA is from interacting with all of you in one manner or another,” said Hurley, during his inaugural address. “That interaction has been a path to continuing education, the sharing of ideas and sharing life experiences as risk managers.”

One of Hurley’s goals for the coming year is to expand PRIMA’s membership at the chapter level. By increasing our outreach, he said, we create deeper resources, expanded networking opportunities and exposure to developing ideas that enhance our abilities along with the profession.

“One of my mutual goals is to continue to spread the word about PRIMA among public entities as a critical resource not only for risk managers but others who manage part of the function whether they are purchasing agents, human resource directors, school administrators or others,” he said. “By continuing to expand our membership, we increase our collective intellectual capital.”

Hurley takes over the role of president of the Association after serving on PRIMA’s board of directors since 2009. Hurley will lead the Association of more than 1,000 public entities and oversee its nine-person board of directors until June 2013, at which time he will assume the role of past-president on the Association’s board.

PRIMA director Betty Coulter, director of risk management and insurance for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, was sworn in as PRIMA’s president-elect. She will assume the presidency of the Association in June 2013.

PRIMA members also welcomed the following members as directors:

Dean Coughenour, ARM

City of Goodyear, AZ

Michael Fann, ARM-P, MBA
Director of Loss Control

Amy J. Larson, Esq.

PRIMA’s membership is made up of nearly 2,000 entities in over 1,800 jurisdictions.
