Cindy Mallett, AIC, CWCP, ARM-P, Sworn In as PRIMA President

June 8, 2011, Portland, Ore.— Cindy Mallett, AIC, CWCP, ARM-P, was sworn in today as the 2011-2012 PRIMA president at the association’s annual membership luncheon in Portland, Ore.

“When I think about all the people that have stood at the PRIMA podium and assumed the role of president, I am honored that you are allowing me to follow in their very large footsteps,” said Mallett, during her inaugural address.

One of Mallett’s goals for the coming year is to reach out to those that may not be called risk managers, but who are shouldered with the responsibility of purchasing insurance, administering safety programs, or any of the various components of risk management.

“Bringing those individuals into the PRIMA family will help all of us; they will receive access to a variety of resources, and we will gain the benefits of their individual expertise,” she said. “We will also seek to identify ways that we can educate others in the public sector about the importance of a comprehensive risk management program. Demonstrating our value to our decision-makers and our coworkers can be a critically important step toward getting a seat at the decision-making table.”

Mallett takes over the role of president of the Association after serving on PRIMA’s board of directors since 2007. Mallett will lead the Association of more than 1,000 public entities and oversee its nine-person board of directors until June 2012, at which time she will assume the role of past-president on the Association’s board.

PRIMA director Dan Hurley, CSP, ARM-P, MS, senior director, risk management and safety, for Norfolk Public Schools in Norfolk, Va., was sworn in as PRIMA’s president-elect. He will assume the presidency of the Association in June 2012.

PRIMA members also welcomed the following members as directors:

Ed Beecher

Risk Manager

City of Pompano Beach, Fla.

Regan Rychetsky, ABCP

Director, HHS Enterprise Risk Management and Safety

Texas Health and Human Services Commission

The Association’s mission is to promote effective risk management in the public interest as an essential component of public administration. Headquartered in Alexandria, VA, PRIMA is the largest risk management association dedicated solely to the practice of risk management in the public sector. PRIMA’s membership is made up of nearly 2,000 entities in over 1,800 jurisdictions.
