Chris is founder, president and managing consultant for Excellence in Risk Management, LLC, an independent risk consultancy founded in Texas in 2004. He is the recently retired SVP, strategic solutions for Sedgwick and the founding director of the Sedgwick Institute where he was responsible for helping the company reach its strategic vision of serving current and evolving needs of its current and future customers as well as help lead the industry vertical to the next level and beyond. Chris has more than 25 years of experience in large global corporate risk management. He has pioneered the development of integrated, enterprise and strategic risk management at USAA, where S&P rated USAA as “excellent” and a “leader in ERM." His career also includes leadership roles at Liberty Mutual, Marsh, Verizon, American National Red Cross, PepsiCo and USAA Group. He is s a frequent industry speaker and author and has provided risk related columns to the trade press since 1996. He holds numerous designations and certification and was named Risk Manager of the Year and awarded RIMS’ lifetime achievement award (Goodell) in 2016. He is recognized by his peers as a thought leader in ERM and related disciplines.
Responsibilities
Chris founded, manages and leads risk and insurance engagements in response to customer's stated needs. He has created and managed a wide variety of risk management programs for major entities including the American National Red Cross, PepsiCo, and USAA.

Chris has 43 years' of experience in various areas of the insurance industry including: claims at an insurer, brokerage, risk technology manager, insurance manager and sr. risk leader for various companies.
ERM Experience
Chris has created the original ERM strategy, framework and tactical plan for a Fortune 200-sized private diversified financial services firm for 10 years - a program recognized by Standard and Poors as industry leading and received its highest ERM rating for 5 consecutive years 2005-10. The same program received the Alexander Hamilton Award for Excellence in ERM in 2007. Chris tought ERM and all forms of risk and insurance at RIMS since 2008.
